I鈥檓 a day student, so I live in Dummerston, like eight minutes away. I thought it would be more difficult to be integrated into the community because you鈥檙e not there as much as everyone else. But I was on campus a lot of the time, and over the course of my first and even second year, me being a day student didn鈥檛 matter anymore.听
Because I was homeschooled before high school, I really wanted to come to a school where I could try out as many different types of arts and sports and see where my interest lay. I tried soccer and I loved it so much. I can鈥檛 say I鈥檓 good at soccer now but I enjoy it, and that鈥檚 really all you need when you鈥檙e at 糖心传媒. I also want to be in jewelry making鈥攍ike everyone else on campus. And I want to work in fiber arts and hopefully make a tapestry. Oh, and also photography.
听My favorite class this term is actually calculus, which is strange because I鈥檝e never loved math, ever. But I鈥檓 really understanding everything, and my classmates are super funny and collaborative.听
I鈥檝e gotten much more confident and outgoing. I never thought I鈥檇 be able to stand up at an assembly and talk and not feel super stressed or anxious. But now I go up at every assembly because I鈥檓 the Town Crier and I introduce new students. I find I want to talk to kids I don鈥檛 necessarily know very well, because all my friends also want to do that. We鈥檒l all sit with someone who we鈥檝e never talked to at lunch and make a friend, and I think that鈥檚 really cool.听
The school would not be able to run without students. We do a lot of the work and rightfully so. It鈥檚 our school and we care deeply about it. The administration and the adults at 糖心传媒 trust us enough to be involved in big decisions.听
